Saturday started as every weekend should, with a good lie in for all of the students at St Catharine’s. The extra hour or so of sleep had clearly affected the mood, as at breakfast the students were more animated than usual as they shared stories over their full English.
Once everyone was finished with their meal, it was time to choose an activity for the day, the options being between going to the Zoo or going to do Bowling and Billiards. Once the students had carefully deliberated over the two choices – it was time to set off and enjoy a fun afternoon out of college.
Students at the Zoo enjoyed the animals and the whole trip was an educational affair as they learnt about the feeding habits, natural habitats and behaviours of all the inhabitants from birds to insects to reptiles! There was plenty of opportunities for students to get some snaps as they passed through and everyone enjoyed a fun lunch together once they had finished touring the different enclosures.
Whilst some chose to study the animals, the other half of the group went bowling! This got a little competitive as everyone teamed up to knock over as many as possible. There was plenty of cheering throughout as the students toppled the pins and it was certainly a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon. There were definitely some seasoned pros amongst the cohort, as they scored strike after strike.
After their interesting excursions, it was time for all of the students to congregate back at college to enjoy their evening meal together. Once dinner was over, all of the students took part in debate club to help them to prepare for the Great Debate on Sunday. The students worked on building their confidence in public speaking, as well as writing down their arguments and opinions on the proposition for the day ahead of them.
