Yesterday was a great day as Hugh’s welcomed its second cohort of students to ‘the city of dreaming spires’! We were even lucky enough to have the weekend’s rain clear up in time for their arrival!
The amazing staff worked hard all afternoon to make sure that all our students all found their way to their rooms and got their luggage up the stairs! There were also refreshments on hand for those students and parents who had travelled a long way and needed some extra energy.
Once students had got all their things unpacked and said hello to all their new neighbors, the staff had organised a welcome talk for everyone. In the talk the programme director reminded the students to make the most of their time here, personally as well as academically. With such a diverse range of students here, this is a great chance for everyone to widen their cultural circle!
After the students had waved goodbye to their parents, it was time for the students’ first dinner at Hugh’s. We clearly have a confident bunch of students this session, because in no time at all they were chatting and laughing together and already showing signs of becoming great friends!
In the evening the students got to know each other even better with some icebreaker activities and a few card games. Everyone was settling in wonderfully by the time curfew rolled around – it looks like this session is going to be a good one!
