The promise of rain did nothing to spoil the excitement of the students yesterday morning. With the time of their graduation ceremony ticking ever closer, the students were very animated as they sat down to breakfast. Although there was a slight air of sadness hanging around, the students were determined to make every last second of their time in Oxford count.
In their lessons, the students were rounding off everything that they’d learnt or giving their much-anticipated presentations! It was wonderful to at last be able to see the results of all their hard work, and across all programmes, the teachers were very impressed by what the students had produced.
When the time came to leave the classrooms for the last time, it was a bit of an emotional time for some of the students as they’ve learnt so much from their teachers in the last two weeks.
The mood soon picked up as the students changed into their best outfits – it was great to see everyone prepared to pin up their friend’s hair or tie their tie. There are some really promising friendships amongst the cohort, and we hope that they’ll all keep in touch after the summer ends!
Then it was time for the graduation ceremony in the Marquee! The programme director kicked things off with a short but sincere speech about what a pleasure it has been to teach such bright individuals! Then, at last, the students stepped up to collect the scrolls they’ve been working towards for the last two weeks.
After the ceremony was over, they had a suitably impressive dinner, then a disco was set up in the marquee! It was a perfect end to the two weeks as the students danced and laughed with their friends until it was time for bed.
