The end of the week is here, and how quickly the first week has gone by at St Edmund’s! Students have settled into college life well and it’s been clear that they have enjoyed their lessons so far, regardless of a fair amount of homework.
Friday’s classes were a bit more unusual than normal! Our Veterinary Science students were trying their hands at some practical work today with a rat dissection! Although it was certainly not for the squeamish, our students made excellent use of the chance to develop some practical skills!
Once lessons were finished on Friday, it was time for a fun afternoon of free time as the group walked into town to enjoy shopping and sightseeing. This cohort have particularly enjoyed their time in the centre of Cambridge with many of them commenting that they could see themselves living or studying here in the future, after all, it is a rather beautiful city.
Once everyone was showered and changed, it was time for a party! An outbreak of typically British weather did nothing to stop the students having a good time – they simply moved the BBQ into the marquee! After everyone had munched some burgers or salad, it was time for karaoke to begin!
There were some fantastic vocal performances from our students, with a particularly memorable rendition of Beyoncé’s ‘Single Ladies’ by Alessandro and Giorgio from Italy leaving everyone in stitches. Halfway through the evening, the karaoke was paused so everyone could sing happy birthday to Maja from Poland! The staff had organised a cake for her to celebrate, and it really ended the evening on a high note!
