The rain may have dampened the ground at Jowett yesterday, but it did nothing to dampen the students’ spirits!
Everyone got to class on time and with a smile, ready to round off their programmes. As it was the last few classes, a lot of the teachers had organised quite fun activities, like the race that took place between the students’ cars in the Engineering Preparation class. The cars were made entirely by the students and controlled using apps on the students’ phones. Seeing their own work whizzing about definitely made for a good end to the session!
As they left their classes for the final time, students were sure to thank their teachers for all their hard work over the last few weeks. The teachers in turn were sorry to say goodbye to such a conscientious and lively cohort!
There was a touch of sadness in the air as the students made their way upstairs to get changed. By the time they came back down in their best outfits, the sadness had been replaced by excited anticipation and the students chattered loudly amongst themselves on the walk to Balliol.
The ceremony was held jointly with our Balliol cohort and before the ceremony both programme directors stood up to say a few words about how much they’ve enjoyed watching the students grow over the session. Then it was time for the students to collect their certificates, with a few special students receiving extra awards for their efforts over the session!
After the ceremony both cohorts headed over to our St Catherine’s campus for dinner, joining together with the other 16 – 18 cohorts from Queens and St Catz. With everyone in such a good mood, it wasn’t long before all the students were mixing and making friends.
Once the last plate had been cleared away, all the students headed over to the Town Hall for a party. Surrounded by friends, both old and new, the students danced the night away. Let’s hope their feet aren’t too sore for the trip home!
