St Catherine’s faced the mid-week timetable with energy and enthusiasm yesterday, with lessons being followed up by a Talk and Ping Pong Tournament.
The morning’s lessons went over well; it was straight in as always and the students seemed to be engaged from the start. With final projects on the horizon, there was no time to waste on the curriculum. It was a lovely day though, so it was good to get out of the classroom later on.
Lunch rolled around and students took the opportunity to bask in the weather. Amidst all the furore it was nice for the students to have the opportunity to unwind. In this spirit, the afternoon was a relaxed one, beginning with a ‘Ted Talk’-style event conducted by our own councillor, Charde. The talk was full of information about life at Oxford University and the students who were in attendance really enjoyed it, with loads of questions being asked afterwards.
At the same time, a slightly less formal affair was taking place on the green, in the form of a Ping-Pong Tournament! Students had had plenty of practice and now it was time to see if their skills were what they claimed! It was Doubles, so everyone needed to co-operate with their partner in order to prevail. And prevail one team did, managing not to lose a single game for over an hour!
Graduation is beckoning now as Thursday rolls in. It’s been an exceptional week so far and whilst the weather looks like it might be teetering, the students certainly aren’t!
