After Monday’s series of introductory sessions, Tuesday saw our Yale participants dig down into the detail as their lessons started in earnest. There was also a series of talks from ORA staff, regarding the topic of higher education. The speakers discussed their own personal experiences, painting a vivid picture – which was an apt precursor for the evening activity!
The sun was once again beating down on New Haven, and the participants reflected this great weather with their bright and beaming smiles at the prospect of getting stuck into the day’s packed schedule.
After breakfast, the lessons began. Tuesday’s academic sessions mostly took the form of lectures, in which the participants absorbed a lot of information and really got to grips with the finer details of some of their topics.
After lessons, there was a light lunch – perfect in the hot summer sun – before an afternoon out of classes. The reason for this was that the Programme Director, Ron, was hosting a lecture during which some members of the ORA team shared their stories about their journeys through higher education. The talks were certainly food for thought, and will surely help our participants when they consider their own futures.
The day had provided a lot of information for the participants to take in, albeit useful information! In order to redress the balance, a fun painting session was available in the evening. There were some absolutely wonderful efforts, and everyone had fun and made the most of the chance to unwind at the end of a fantastic Tuesday!
