After a weekend off, all our students were well-rested and eager to get back to lessons yesterday morning. Despite the packed timetable on Saturday and Sunday, everyone had found plenty of time to finish off their homework and presentations in time for their first lessons.
For students taking Physics and Chemistry as part of their New Perspectives programme, the beginning of week two classes had them straying away from set topics and moving to pursue those scientific questions that interest them most. With plenty of support from our fantastic teachers, the students are encouraged to think outside of the box, question what they take for granted, and become future pioneers of science. It may have been a full-on Monday, but certainly not a boring one!
After classes were finished, students set out for the city centre to enjoy some of the summer sunshine. They picked up something cool to drink from Moo Moo’s, a popular milkshake shop, and a sweet snack from Ben’s cookies and settled in their favourite spots around the city. After just a week, the students are clearly starting to feel at home here and it’s wonderful to see them all so comfortable in surroundings that are still quite new.
In the evening, students took on salsa dancing! It was a workshop full of enthusiasm and giggles and by the end, even the students who insisted they had two left feet were moving like pros.
Meanwhile, students who had art on their minds got to let their creativity loose as they painted their own mugs. It was a great chance for those who hadn’t made a mug last week to try their hand at it, and for the artistic students to try out some more of their fantastic designs!
Before they headed to bed, the students were reminded to be up bright and early the next morning in time for their excursion to Blenheim Palace!
