It was time again to welcome another group of students at Clare College, Cambridge on Sunday. Fortunately, the British sun was out to greet everyone as they began to arrive on campus throughout the afternoon.
As they arrived, students were greeted by our campus staff who registered them on the system before handing them their lanyards and sending them off with the new keys for their rooms! A special mention goes out to all the staff who helped out with the arrivals day and made it run so smoothly as it’s not always an easy event to coordinate!
Once students had got their luggage to their rooms with the helpful assistance of our counsellors, they headed for some refreshments outside on the lawn. A few of the students’ parents had accompanied them to Clare, and this was a good opportunity for them to introduce themselves to one another as they enjoyed a glass of something.
Later in the afternoon, the students and some of the parents received a welcome talk from the staff on campus. This talk was not only focused on providing information about the day-to-day life at Clare, but it also reminded students of the importance of showing respect to their colleagues throughout their stay.
After the welcome talks were complete, we waved goodbye to the few parents remaining. Although this was difficult for some of the students, our counsellors were on hand to provide entertainment in the evening, as everyone enjoyed fun icebreaker activities which included; splat, two truths one lie and charades. These games were a great chance for everyone to start getting to know one another better and it was brilliant to see how quickly all of the students bonded as a group!
