Its been a fantastic first week at University College, with our 19+ students taking to their subjects like ducks to water and the week generally proving a great success.
And what a week it’s been! It feels like only yesterday the students arrived at Univ for the first time. Kicking off the week was a trip around Oxford and to the stunning Bodleian Library, perhaps Oxford’s most recognisable building, and certainly one of its most cherished.
Hitting the ground running, the momentum continued on Tuesday with Interview Advice and the start of our Enrichment Programme. Students were given common employment questions and asked how they might answer them as a team. They even gave their first subject presentations – a remarkable achievement at such an early stage.
On Thursday, our International Medical Research and Practice students traveled to Oxford Brookes for first-hand Clinical Practice Training. Although not for the squeamish, they took to the concepts well and the staff were extremely supportive and professional. The week also brought with it a whole host of esteemed guest speakers, all of whom are leaders in their field and provided invaluable academic and career guidance.
By the time Friday came around, there were plenty of reasons to celebrate, and so it was only appropriate to throw a barbeque at the end of the day. There was a great atmosphere as students kicked back after a long week. With another just around the corner, it’s time for an urgent weekend recharge!
