That Friday feeling was abundant yesterday at Balliol as students arose pronto once again for morning lessons. At this stage in the course, we typically expect students be utilising prior knowledge of their studies and displaying their learning in class, and it was great to see that criteria was met and then some. There was excellent participation and some really insightful comments made throughout the morning.
There was plenty of free time for the students yesterday, which they made excellent use of, with some opting to head into town whilst others decided that they would rather stay behind and enjoy the sun. Those who went into Oxford explored some of the sights and went shopping, whilst the latter group relaxed in the sun and played games on the lawn.
Yesterday evening proved to be a particularly special one. Unbeknownst to everyone, the kitchen had prepared an Indian-themed dinner. The students loved it, and all took the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture of India throughout the evening by trying as many new foods as they could. It was noted that the pudding was especially popular! Afterwards, Patrick, our APD, thanked the kitchen and catering staff for their hard work, and the students gave them all a well-earned round of applause.
It’s been a tremendous week so far, and there is still much more to come. The Great Debate goes ahead on Sunday – just around the corner. Whilst everyone appears to have gained so much, there is still a long way to go, and there is always more to learn!
