And so it’s finally here! The day everyone has been waiting for since the very beginning of their programmes – Graduation Day! We are so delighted to have seen our wonderful students at Clare dedicate two weeks of their summer to studying, dining and living in the city of Cambridge.
The day got off to an excited start as everyone anticipated the afternoon full of graduation celebrations. All of the students set off for their final classes at Clare where their teachers had designed fun activities surrounding their subject areas. Although our students are looking forward to completing their programmes there was a level of sadness to the morning, as they waved goodbye to the teachers who have supported them throughout the last two weeks.
After lunch it was time for party preparations and students got to work making sure that the college decor matched the celebratory tone of the rest of the day. Once this was finished, students got changed into their party clothing before their ceremonies were to begin.
Graduation was a formal affair to be held in the Small Hall and Great Hall in college. Everyone cheered and clapped as their friends made it to the front to collect their scrolls, apt awards for two weeks of hard work. Once the ceremony was complete with the programme director expressing their gratitude for a fantastic session, it was time for dinner. It is important to take a moment to give our thanks not only to the students, but also to all of the staff on campus, from the coordinators, to the teachers, to the counsellors who have made this session superb!
Students then enjoyed a fancy three course meal in college before heading off to the Hilton Hotel to enjoy a party. This was a fun-filled event complete with delicious cheesecakes, a dance floor and a rodeo which proved the most popular activity of the evening! (More graduation pics to follow in a few days!)
