Friday was the final day of the programme for students at Catz and with the excitment of graduation hanging in the atmosphere, everyone was eager to start their last day with a smile!
The morning offered the final classes for the students. Some of the teachers had even prepared fun and interactive tasks for their final lessons and the fact that the teachers were so reluctant to say goodbye to this cohort is a testament to the quality of work they have produced during their stay. It is excellent to note how brilliant the interactions between the staff and students here have been throughout the last two weeks.
Once lessons were over, it was time for party preparations! The students set to work making the college reflect their festive spirits as they prepared for an evening of partying and chatting. Once the college was sufficiently glittering, it was time for everyone to get changed into their formal attire for the start of the ceremony.
The graduation was emotional as everyone walked up to received their scrolls. All of the campus staff at Catz would like to say a huge thank you to this group of students who have made the first weeks in Cambridge so special with their positive outlook and their determination. After the scrolls were given, a few students received prizes for notable dedication to the programmes and it was wonderful to hear the applause fill the room.
Once the formal graduation was over, the group enjoyed a lavish meal at Catz followed by a big party as they joined together with one of our other Cambridge colleges, St Edmund’s. Since the two groups have taken part in a few activities together, this was a good opportunity to say farewell to the students they had met during their stay. The evening was danced away, and with sore feet, the students returned to their rooms saying farewell to one another as they prepare to leave tomorrow.
