Imperial was in a relaxed mood on Thursday. The bulk of the students’ academic work was behind them and the weather was bright and warm. They had a delicious breakfast as usual, and headed off to their lessons.
With the deadlines for presentations and projects, there could easily have been a dip in the enthusiasm and effort levels, but this was not the case as the students demonstrated once again their brilliant attitudes to learning.
After lessons, some of the students decided to stay on campus and socialise, or begin some heavy-hearted packing. Many of them, however, jumped at the chance to visit Westfield Stratford City, a shopping centre in the East End of London.
Westfield, which is one of the UK’s largest shopping centres, was built in 2011 right next to the site of much of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The area includes some fascinating scenery, such as London Stadium and the Orbit sculpture/observation tower.
The shopping centre itself houses many different retailers, from global chains to charming independent shops. The students were certainly glad to see some recognisable names and many indulged in a little retail therapy, although some of it was window-shopping!
Friday will be the last full day for the students, and holds their graduation in store, so everyone made sure to get a good night’s rest ahead of another big day!
