Thursday morning was accompanied by bright, summer sunshine at Lady Margaret’s. The prospect of a sunny day and an exciting excursion at the weekend had everyone up out of bed bright and early.
Lessons went off without a hitch, as always, and then it was time for our students to grab a quick bite to eat before our guest speakers arrived.
The students had talks from Alex Holmes and Vicky Kalogeiton. Alex Holmes created a very interactive session on bullying for the students, bringing them outside onto the lawn and gathering them in a circle. He then read out statements to them and asked the students to step into the middle of the circle if that statement applied to them. It was a fun, visual way to highlight the similarities between our students despite the diversity of their backgrounds.
Vicky Kalogeiton gave a less active, but no less relevant talk on Computer Vision and the part it might play in our future. As all our students are very technologically aware, it was a fascinating talk that all were eager to participate in.
After dinner it was time to get creative! Armed with all the craft materials our staff could carry, the students set about making their own masks and superhero costumes. It was a great opportunity for everyone to stretch their artistic muscles and it was wonderful to see each student’s personality coming out through their creations.
Those who still had energy to burn raced off to the netball court where they had a small but intense game.
Students headed off to bed eager for Friday and the mid-point of their course to arrive.
