Yesterday morning was taken up by lessons, as usual. Our students have taken to the daily routine wonderfully and despite a few bleary eyes first thing, a hearty breakfast put everyone in the mood to learn.
In the afternoon the students had the chance to make their own t-shirts in a tie-dyeing workshop. It was a bit of a messy experience, but everyone enjoyed being able to create a unique masterpiece using their favourite colours. We’ll have to keep an eye out in the coming week for anyone wearing their creation!
After dinner, some of our cohort stayed inside to attend a very useful talk on applying to university in the UK. The talk honed-in on the entry requirements and pathways for specific courses like Medicine and Law, but also covered the more general aspects of applying to a UK university, like writing Personal Statements. It was really encouraging to see so many of our students eager to return to the UK after their ORA programmes are over.
Those who didn’t attend the talk joined the counsellors for some sports. There were several very close games of table tennis and some enthusiastic rounds of badminton, but the highlight was a large game of basketball. Both teams played excellently, and by the time the game finished there was a small crowd of spectators watching from the edge of the court.
After such an energetic evening, students were only too happy to get off to bed for some well-earned rest!
