There’s always time for a bit of sightseeing at Queen’s, and yesterday was as good a day as any with the sun still blessing the campus. We took a trip to the stunning New College, Oxford. Don’t let the name fool you; New College was founded as far back as 1379 by William of Wykeham. The students loved the gorgeous buildings and campus grounds, although many remarked that they still preferred Queen’s!
Later in the day, some students tried their hand at punting on the river. It was great to see so many of them taking up the challenge, as it’s definitely not the easiest way to get around – standing on the back of a boat and rowing with both arms, it’s a sure way to test your balance. There were some close calls but thankfully no students fell in. Such adept co-ordination will surely come in handy for other Enrichment Activities later in the week.
As the day whirred on, some students migrated over to the Cake Decorating Session. There were some outstanding designs and a great buzz in the room as students unleashed their creativity. After another long day of lessons, it was also a great opportunity for students to unwind and catch up with one-another. Next step, The Great British Bake Off!
Today, there’s just as much to look forward to. Friday is now just around the corner and with it, the halfway point in the course. How time flies when you’re having fun!
