Tuesday’s at Hugh’s began bright and early with a fire drill. All of the students were up and out of bed in great time – though a little sleepy! Breakfast soon perked everyone up though and the cohort was chatting happily away again in no time.
Lessons were as engaging as always, with our Introduction to Fashion and Textile Design class having a particularly interesting day. They were looking into the advantages and applications of different fabrics and considering which they might like to work with in their projects. The whole room was oozing with creative energy and it was wonderful to see our students bouncing ideas off each other.
The afternoon was dedicated to masterclasses in a variety of fascinating subjects, from architecture to sales and marketing. One of the most popular was the crime scene investigation masterclass, which let students step into the role of a forensic investigator! Everyone got really stuck in and it was great to watch them working as a team to put together clues and scout out evidence.
After dinner, it was time for a speed-dating style introduction to university in the UK. Our students really stretched the knowledge of our counsellors to the limits with all the questions they had for them!
Before bed, there was some free time for the students to relax and unwind. Some trialled British board games like Monopoly and Jenga while other, more energetic, students headed out onto the lawn to set up games of croquet and duck, duck, goose.
