Tuesday kicked off earlier than usual with a fire drill at Jowett. Despite being tired, all our students made it out of the building in just 4 minutes and 39 seconds. Well done everyone!
Lessons proceeded as usual with all our students really beginning to get into the rhythm of things here at Jowett. Now that our cohort have gotten to know each other, they’re really beginning to gel as a group. This shines through particularly in our Business and Enterprise classes, where students worked together to analyse the UK business market. All the hard work of the morning meant lunch was a welcome break before an equally busy afternoon.
After lunch, the students had the opportunity to take part in some excellent masterclasses led by passionate experts from their respective fields. A particular highlight was the Public Speaking and Leadership masterclass held in the marquee. As many of our students are aspiring leaders themselves, they relished the opportunity to dedicate an afternoon to the workshop. In the coming weeks, we should see the skills they’ve gained here be put to good use on group projects!
In the evening, the counsellors put on a university Q&A session for the students, opening themselves up to the students’ many questions. It was great to see our cohort so engaged with their futures!
Afterwards, the students had some free time to unwind. Some – who were clearly impressed by Oxford’s sights on yesterday’s tour – headed into the city to visit some of their favourite spots. Others stayed behind to play sports in the lush university parks.
