It was another jam-packed day yesterday at Balliol, with students getting into the rhythm of academic life before letting loose on the football pitch.
The day was business as usual to begin with: an early start followed up by lessons as part of our Engineering Preparation and Summer English Programmes. Students showed encouraging signs of participation and diligence yesterday: a promising sign so early on in the course.
Once lessons had concluded, it was time for a new round of Masterclasses to commence. These included the Stock Exchange Challenge and a session based on CSI! Each was designed to get everyone up and about, and there was a great sense of fun in both as different teams battled it out, from investing in stocks to investigating crimes.
Of course, it wasn’t long before everyone congregated to University Parks to play football. The turnout for the Sports Session was staggering, with two huge games taking place and plenty of students cheering from the side-lines. Word soon got out and eventually even the Programme Director came to watch! Two games were played in all, and it seemed like the perfect way to loosen up after non-stop lessons and Masterclasses.
Meanwhile, those who chose not to attend did not miss out, as they were treated to a talk on practical advice for getting into Oxbridge. The day wrapped up with Movie Night and Arts and Crafts: a great way to relax before tomorrow!
