Catz was abuzz with energy this morning as all of the students here looked forward to an excursion to London to see some of what the wonderful West End has to offer. This trip has been hotly anticipated from the very outset of the progamme as everyone has been eager to see some of the UK’s best musicals.
The students enjoyed the first half of their day in college as they completed their morning classes. Regardless of the excitement generated by the prospect of enjoying a musical afternoon, the students were as diligent as ever in the morning. It is fantastic to note their dedication to their work and as their programmes begin to come to an end, their commitment never falters.
Lessons finished a little earlier to avoid rush hour traffic, then everyone picked up their packed lunches and boarded the coach with the students from one of our other campuses, St Edmund’s. Not only was the excitement high due to the prospect of the trip, but students from the different colleges were keen to introduce themselves to one another, forming new friendships as the whole group chatted during the journey.
On arrival in London, the students were given a few hours of free time to do some sightseeing and shopping in the capital. The group were in close proximity to Piccadilly Circus, Oxford Street and Buckingham Palace – so no one was short of something to do. Some of the cohort chose to eat out as well, taking advantage of the brilliant restaurants that are available in this area. Finally, it was time for the piece de resistance – the shows!
It is safe to say that this was a highlight for many of the students, given their happy reaction to all they had seen. As the curtain closed, it was with sadness that the students made their way back onto the coach, however it was wonderful to hear them all sharing their favourite moments from the musicals as we travelled back into Cambridge.
