Week Two is underway!
The participants are on the home stretch at our Yale campus as Monday marked the start of their second week on the programme. Despite this, the levels of enthusiasm and energy are no less than they were before the weekend, and Monday was another fantastic day in New Haven.
After a regular morning timetable of lessons, the participants had another trip in the afternoon – and another ride on a yellow School Bus! The trip took them just under an hour inland to Hartford, which is the capital city of Connecticut.
Hartford is one of the USA’s oldest cities, founded close to 400 years ago, and was extremely prosperous in the immediate aftermath of the American Civil War. One of the highlights of the visit was the Old State Hall, an 18th century structure which houses a museum and is even rumoured to be haunted!
After the State House, the participants went to a nearby bowling alley and engaged in some friendly competition as they hit the lanes. This was followed by a trip to a restaurant for some delicious dinner, before heading back to campus.
It was a great day and the staff were even more impressed when they got back to Yale, as the participants spent some time working on their projects and catching up on homework before bed.
