Yesterday’s lessons got off to a cracking start as our students tested their teamworking skills in Introduction to Leadership. Spread out on the lawn outside Hugh’s, students worked in pairs to discover the best way to protect raw eggs from being dropped. It was crucial that the pair worked together and listened to each other’s ideas as they crafted unique protective boxes out of polystyrene, dowel rods, and tape. After adding the crucial final piece – a polythene parachute – it was time for the students to test their creations! It was a tense moment as they waited to see which eggs would end up scrambled!

Elsewhere on the campus, the Film Academy class were hard at work shooting and editing. Luckily, nobody was camera shy and they ended up with some very professional looking footage.

After classes, it was time for the students to head out into the city on a walking tour. They covered all of Oxford’s best historical sights like the Bridge of Sighs and the Sheldonian Theatre. It was great to see them all so fascinated by the rich culture of the city – especially since the councillors had planned to surprise the students with an Oxford history round in the quiz after dinner! Other rounds included music, flags of the world, and general knowledge – all students passed the Oxford history round with flying colours, of course.

Before bed, the students managed to squeeze in a precarious and laughter-filled game of giant jenga that had everyone in a great mood. The students all went off to bed with smiles on their faces after an egg-cellent day, looking forward to an equally exciting one tomorrow.
