This morning saw an energetic start as the new students at Yarnton took to the Long Gallery for a hearty breakfast to fuel them for the rest of the day! Everyone seemed cheerful as they made their way across campus to begin their educational journeys here.
The first classes began with a buzz, and the morning mainly gave everyone chance to get a brief introduction to their plan of learning over the next two weeks. During their lunch break, students then had time to begin consolidating their budding friendships as they took bean bags to relax on the lawn, with some of the more active students choosing to play a few rounds of badminton instead.
Following lunch, the students studying on Mastering Automotive Engineering headed back their workshop to start a busy afternoon of heavy lifting. During their stay, these students will have the opportunity to build a Caterham Sports Car as a team. This is one of our most dedicated programmes, and teachers Solomon and Pablo have a wealth of experience which seems to have really inspired this handpicked cohort already. Both Solomon and Pablo were instilling the important lesson of workshop hygiene yesterday – making sure all the new tools were always replaced in the correct positions.
Whilst these students laboured in the workshop, the rest of the group had the chance to go on a tour of Oxford in order to witness some of its historic sites. There was then a chance to the group to have a look around a few of the shops before they headed back to the manor.
In the evening, there was some free time to enjoy games in the garden. Eisa, Mustafa, Ashl and Shaun had a competitive game of badminton, whilst others hit a few rounds of tabel tennis. Everyone then took part in an interactive quiz which included lots of rounds and encouraged a lot of laughter. The evening was played out by Stanislas, who showed off his brilliant piano skills.
