Queen’s College Oxford welcomed its first ORA cohort of the Summer with open arms yesterday as everybody arrived and got comfortable. There was plenty of time for drinks and light conversation following a smooth check-in process. The weather was cloudy but pleasantly warm, with some Australian students saying they thought it felt warmer than Perth!
After saying goodbye to parents, there was time for everyone to find their rooms and explore the campus. One student even exclaimed how beautiful her room was, adding that it was the best she’d ever seen!
Afterwards, the students were treated to an induction talk from our Principal Dean, Wendy. The talk was received well by all and laid out what the students can expect from their time at Queen’s College. There was also guidance on how students can respect the diverse cultures and backgrounds of their fellow pupils.
This was then followed by icebreaker games lead by Ollie, one of our Junior Deans. This provided a great opportunity for everybody to get acquainted and relax after a long day of travelling. The students did a remarkable job of connecting with one-another, and the enthusiasm in the room boded well for the weeks ahead.
The pace only picks up from here, with today bringing with it the start of lessons, as well as sports sessions, sunset sketching, and more. There is also a tour scheduled of ‘The City of Dreaming Spires’ – Oxford!
