Our first arrivals to St. Peter’s were greeted by a wonderful summer’s day in Oxford. Our brilliant campus team was on hand and ready to help throughout the afternoon as students descended on the college.
After settling into their rooms, it was time for a short welcome talk aimed at getting our students thinking about how they can make the most of their time here. The staff made sure to mention that the summer was a chance to develop personally as well as academically, and encouraged the students to be respectful of their potential international friends.
Then it was time for a spot of dinner and the chance to really chat with the wide diversity of students around. The arrival of some cake as pudding put the whole room in a relaxed and talkative mood – as cake always does!
By the time the icebreaker games began in the evening, friendships were already beginning to form between the students. They played some traditional British games like ‘the name game’ and it was wonderful to see them all laughing and joking together.
After a long day, the students were eager to get to bed and begin their programmes. They all look forward to the chance to really get started tomorrow!
