On a day of fabulous sunshine in the UK’s busy capital, our students had a perfect chance to find the beauty in the detail, with a day focused on how small things can make a big impression.
In the morning lessons, the students again showed a keen interest in their subjects, a theme which has been consistent throughout the early part of the programme – long may it continue! One of the more fascinating sessions covered the topic of Banking, and the students were able to better understand technical terms such as Credit.
A trip to the South Bank, a district of London which is well-known for being a cultural hub was also available. The students were looking at Art and Architecture as part of their Broadening Horizons programme, and the area features some interesting and diverse styles.
The National Theatre is a building which divides opinion and its striking design was certainly a cause for conversation among the students. Another highlight was an area known as ‘the undercroft’, which is popular with both skaters and graffiti artists.
In the afternoon, the students had a brief introduction to some of the UK’s universities, and a talk from UCAS offering some tips on how to tackle their university applications. These details were very useful and the information will be invaluable to many of the students.
The afternoon and evening featured some free time, and everyone made the most of the lovely weather, before bed and a good night’s sleep!
