Today was another busy day at Eddie’s, with lessons here now in full swing. It was great to see so many happy faces in classes, as all of the students are now fully immersed in their programmes.
In the morning, our Leadership and Teambuilding students were encouraged to witness the power of rhetoric, as their teacher allowed them to watch some video evidence of famous speeches. We hope this will inspire a new and better generation of politicians! Other students ventured into the city for a business field trip, where they gathered data directly from the helpful people of Cambridge, which they will use as market research in the coming days.
Once lessons were complete, the rest of the afternoon was spent playing a wide-range of sports, all of which took place in the generous and leafy grounds directly behind the students’ accommodation. Football was popular as ever, with tricks and flicks on show proving that the students had been inspired by our stars at the World Cup – with would-be Ellen Whites all round. The other students enjoyed volleyball, while some bravely experimented with the largely unfamiliar rugby ball.
After a wonderful dinner, students interested in applying to UK universities attended an insightful talk about the often-intimidating UCAS personal statement. A dedicated group of staff with experience of getting the most out of the strict 4000 character limit gave pointers on matters of style and substance, helping our future applicants to stand out from the crowd at their university of choice.
The students expressed how useful this talk had been and the staff team are already planning further university-focused sessions as part of the campus’ enrichment programme.
