Tuesday at Yale was a real opportunity for the participants to get stuck into their programmes, after the introductory day on Monday. A series of invigorating lessons followed breakfast, with everyone working hard and showing great enthusiasm.
Those participants in the Engineering class, just one of a number of fascinating subjects offered on the ORA Ivy League Experience, worked on energy and circular motion, as well as looking into the mathematical side of their programme. The students have also started to receive their homework assignments – practice makes perfect!
The heat and humidity meant that the participants (and counsellors) were glad of a chance to stay in the cool shade. They were even more so when the afternoon Masterclass started, as it was a chance to get some great advice. The focus of the session was understanding how to optimise university applications and the participants found it really helpful. They also received some top tips for writing their own personal statements.
In the evening a paired painting workshop allowed the participants to relax and have a good laugh as they each painted a portrait of their partner. Everyone had an enjoyable time and the pictures were all fantastic!
After a day full of engaging activity it was time for bed, and a good night’s sleep ahead of another exciting and challenging day on their programmes on Wednesday.
