The group at St Edmund’s were a little sleepy-eyed after such a busy introduction to the college yesterday. However, after a fuelling meal in the morning and a brief introductory talk from college staff, everyone was excited to begin their first day of challenging lessons.
From Architecture and Engineering to Blockchain and Bitcoin as part of our Broadening Horizons programme, students met with their committed teachers and started getting to grips with their diverse subject choices. It was fantastic to see their level of engagement in their programmes at such an early stage, and everyone settled into their classes well.
After lessons ended for the day, our dedicated team of counsellors and Junior Deans led the students into the city centre for a walking tour. As many of the staff have direct experience of living or studying in Cambridge, they were able to offer their expertise and specialist knowledge, bringing the city to life for our students.
Following the informative tour, everyone meandered home for their evening meal. The group enjoyed a delicious and healthy dinner together in the dining hall before taking part in a lively and competitive quiz. The quiz rounds ranged from Cambridge to media, and a final round was even based on the counsellors themselves, which saw a tight finish, but was eventually won by team Золото (Gold).
With the weather still wonderful, many of the students made use of the spacious grounds at Eddie’s to play football or just enjoy chatting and chilling on the lawn before they headed for bed.
