Session 4 at Imperial has sadly finished but we get to have one last look at their exciting Masterclasses before we welcome Session 5.
Session 4
The final update from Session 4 ORA students at Imperial College came in the form of a series of fascinating Masterclass photos. The choices were Forensics or Fan-Powered Cars classes, giving everyone the opportunity to pick the option they were most interested in.
The Forensics Masterclass revealed our detectives and scientists, who worked tirelessly on the scene of a gruesome crime to discover whodunnit? Protective clothing prevented the scene from becoming contaminated and ensured that the fingerprints and evidence gathered could be precisely analysed. The Masterclass was enjoyed by those who took part and many remarked at the exciting equipment they used to check samples and take notes.
The Fan-Powered Masterclass, on the other hand, brought together our finest engineers as they constructed and powered their very own fan cars. Provided with everything they needed, it was up to the students to build and design their engineering masterpieces, which they then tested in the hallway. The variety of designs and colours made an attractive spectrum of fan-powered cars and the class was thoroughly entertaining to our pupils, who were amused by the number of attempts it took some to effectively construct their vehicle.
We have now said goodbye to our Session 4 students and, though we miss them, the show must go on as we welcome our wonderful Session 5 cohort.
Session 5
Initiating our Session 5 students into London was easy, with a trip on the Tube and a walking tour around some of the city’s most stunning sites. For many, it was the first time they had ridden the London Underground and it was a chaotic and fast experience they won’t soon forget!
Back above ground, a walking tour commenced, introducing everyone to their home for the next two weeks. World-famous sites were visited, including the stunning Buckingham Palace, where the Queen resides, and Marble Arch near Hyde Park. The chance to take photos was instantly seized by all pupils, who wanted to capture shots of the renowned buildings and structures.
Back at Imperial College, students gathered for some entertaining evening games, such as table football, to spend more time together at the start of Session 5. There is loads more in store for our London lot so check back regularly to see what they get up to.
