Session 4 has been active and full of thrilling activities for our students based at Imperial College London.
The Proms
ORA pupils studying at Imperial had an amazing opportunity last week to visit The Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. With world-class musicians performances, The Proms are the pinnacle of classical culture in London, spanning a few weeks and showcasing an incredible variety of music.
For ORA pupils, the chance to visit The Proms was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and something they won’t quickly forget. With the stunning backdrop of the famous Royal Albert Hall, everyone became instantly immersed in the live orchestra and watched intently as harpists plucked strings and violinists produced the most emotive tunes. It was a wonderful and cultured evening for our students and a great memory for them to have made whilst in London.
Motivation and Self Confidence Workshop
With lessons well underway at Imperial, students participated in a Motivation and Self-Confidence Workshop. This class aimed to instil a sense of self-belief in each of the pupils, whilst also giving them the confidence to challenge ideas.
The difference in levels of confidence before and after the class was surprisingly noticeable and it was wonderful to witness students more willing to speak up, ask questions and believe in their own ideas. Such essential life skills are bound to aid the group in later life, throughout both their academic and professional careers.
End-of-Week Party
A beach party hit the shores of Imperial to celebrate the end of the first week of studying. Complete with straw parasols and a surfboard activity, students had a whale of a time testing their balancing skills, dancing the night away and trying the delicious drinks and snacks available.
Canary Wharf
In true London style, ORA pupils at Imperial took a trip to Canary Wharf using the Underground. The Tube was an entertaining first-time experience for many, who enjoyed seeing the hustle and bustle of central London life.
An extensive walk around Canary Wharf exposed students to whopping skyscrapers, modern examples of architecture and gorgeous parks. The opportunity to explore more of the beautiful city of London was popular with pupils, who spent the day taking lots of photos.
ORA students might be reaching the end of the week but there is still loads in store and much more exploring in the city to come. Find out more in a couple of days!
