ORA students at SPC enjoyed the end of week 1, as they participated in a dissection practical and took a trip to London.

Dissection Class

Medicine students continued in the theme of practical lessons with a Dissection Class. After their chance to apply first aid to dummies earlier in the week, this practical class proved slightly more challenging as they got up close to animal organs.

Working in pairs, students quickly overcame their squeamish feelings as they got involved with identifying various parts of the organs. Steady hands and calm minds ensured success, as the pupils sliced and dissected, investigating the intricate workings of the inner body as they did so.

The practical workshop exposed students to the reality of the medical sector and provided them with hands-on experience to improve their skillset.

Trip to London

The beauty of the world-famous city of London was not lost on ORA pupils at SPC as they enjoyed the stunning sites over the weekend.

A ride on the London Eye was particularly enjoyed, with students gazing in awe at the iconic landmark before they jumped into their pod. The sun shone down heavily as everyone marvelled at the River Thames, St Paul’s Cathedral and even The Shard from their glass viewing platform. Games ensued as students took it in turns to point out famous buildings and guess their names, with some showing off their keen knowledge of London.

A visit to the Sealife Aquarium was another enjoyable part of the day. Sharks, fish and crustaceans filled the tanks with colour and provided many a photo opportunity. Information boards around the aquarium also gave those with a thirst for knowledge the chance to learn more about their favourite sea creatures.
