A thorough visit to Magdalen College excited ORA students at Jowett Walk, as they compared their accommodation with that of another famous residence. As well as an intriguing excursion, pupils were treated to a tasty and relaxing slumber party evening.
Magdalen College Tour
In Oxford, students were given a guided tour around the magnificent Magdalen College. Founded in 1458 by the Bishop of Winchester, William Waynflete, the College was excessively large for its time and has since housed many famous alumni, including the well-known author C.S. Lewis.
The stunning College is a breath-taking sight and students were instantly blown away by the scale of the buildings and the beauty of the architecture. Many enjoyed the chance to experience another famous Oxford University College and had fun comparing the differences between Magdalen and Jowett Walk.
Slumber Party
With challenging classes and exhausting excursions, it seemed only fair to host a slumber party to give pupils some time to relax.
Complete with fizzy drinks, sweets, popcorn and crisps, the party was a great chance for everyone to kick back and enjoy watching a movie and chilling together. Those wanting an extra level of pampering could opt for a face mask, choosing between ‘Cup O’ Coffee’ (an exfoliating mask) or ‘Mask of Magnanimity’ (intended to fight outbreaks). Facemasks applied and snacks hoarded, everyone relaxed with a movie together and savoured the opportunity for some TLC and rest.
Lessons for the first week might be over but there is still plenty for ORA students to do, with a Wizard themed party tonight and an excursion to Woburn Abbey over the weekend. Check back soon to see how they get on.
