Having already participated in exciting and informative Masterclasses, it was time for ORA students at St Catherine’s to get exploring the city with an Oxford tour.
Oxford Tour
Starting by exploring famous Oxford colleges, the tour continued upwards to give pupils an amazing view overlooking the city. From above, the wonderfully informative guide pointed out key sites, with the dreaming spires emerging gracefully among the modern architecture.
Back down to earth next, as students visited St Michael at the North Gate, a famous church possessing an old Saxon Tower. As one of the oldest buildings in Oxford, the Tower is particularly significant historically, and pupils were lucky enough to look around the building and investigate its structure. The tour continued and took a spooky turn as students explored the graveyard, with some shuddering at the sight of graves and others mesmerised by the heavy atmosphere of the place they were stood. After extensively exploring the historical city, students returned back to St Catherine’s to have dinner and prepare for the evening workshops.
The end-of-week party at St Catherine’s is Alice in Wonderland themed – we look forward to seeing what mad decor appears, stay tuned to find out!
