Journalism
Those in the Journalism Masterclass were taught all about the media industry and the tips and tricks they employ to sell newspapers and magazines.
With the help of newspaper clippings and pages, pupils were able to pick out elements essential in selling journalistic print, such as intriguing headlines and eye-catching photos. After the class, students left with a greater knowledge of the mystery and trickery associated with the journalism sector.
Stock Market Challenge
Other ORA students at St Catherine’s opted to participate in the Stock Market Challenge, whereby small teams competed against a fluctuating trading market to see who would finish with the largest profit.
Quickly running around the trading floor of St Catherine’s College, pupils began exchanging their stocks and shares, making sure to keep an eye on the shifting market as they went. The Masterclass was important in highlighting the changing nature of the stock market and teaching pupils about the world of trading.
Theatre Workout
The performers at St Catherine’s College geared up for the Theatre Workout Masterclass. Designed to instil confidence and performance techniques in our budding actors, the class included a number of activities intended to aid character adaptation and clear vocals whilst teaching the significance of posture and body language. It was an enjoyable class that taught innovative techniques for performing.
The Masterclasses were a huge success at St Catherine’s and got everyone engaged with new ideas and activities. It was great to see the high levels of enthusiasm demonstrated by all involved, showing a real interest and thirst for knowledge.
