The week at Yale has started with a trip to the exciting escape rooms and leadership essay research.

Leadership Essays

ORA students at Yale have wasted no time getting into their studies as they began researching the theme of leadership. With the task of comparing the leadership styles of two global leaders, pupils had an intriguing research project ahead as they contrasted communist, capitalist and socialist leadership.

Some pupils opted for leaders in their own countries and compared them to those leading nations belonging to some of their new friends, leading to intriguing conversational discussions.

With the help of the Pauli Murray Library, the essays have been quickly taking shape and we look forward to reading what students come up with.

Escape Rooms

This week at Yale follows the themes of leadership and teamwork, two skills ORA believe to be essential for success. Having already started their leadership essays, it seemed appropriate to encourage teamwork with a trip to the Escape Rooms in New Haven.

Locked in various rooms with only their cunning and detective skills, students were faced with the challenge of finding clues to help them escape. From searching and code-breaking to reading and moving, pupils left no stone unturned as they worked together to gather clues to open the door.

As the clock ticked and the clues slowly started to emerge, it was a race against time to fit the pieces together and escape. With perseverance, teamwork and impressive detective skills, the escape rooms proved no match to our Sherlocks and Clouseaus, who found the way out with time to spare.

Fabulous Food

After exhausting, intellectually stimulating days, it is important to have filling meals for our students to return to. As you can see from the pictures below, the catering team at Yale went above and beyond to provide delicious options to suit everyone, including vegetarian choices.

The selection was so impressive that many pupils couldn’t decide what they wanted and had to return for seconds! With hot and cold food alongside fruit and pudding, it was a fabulous and well-deserved meal after a long day of leadership and teamwork.
