Now that Session 4 has finished, we bid farewell to St Hugh’s College for 2018. As we pack up, we can’t help but reminisce about the last couple of incredible Sessions at this College.
Session 3
For ORA students at St Hugh’s, Session 3 was packed full of fun activities and interesting classes. Business and Enterprise pupils visited the Mini Plant, learning about how cars are manufactured down to the last detail, whilst the Chaos Coding Masterclass fascinated those with a computer-focused mind.
Exciting excursions were common during Session 3, as students visited the beautiful Waddeson Manor and Gardens. This 19th-century house, built in the French Renaissance style, captivated pupils with its breathtaking art collections and gorgeous gardens. Our animal lovers, on the other hand, were blown away by the trip to the West Midlands Safari Park, where they explored the African Savannah and all of its incredible animals from the comfort of the coach.
ORA’s Got Talent was thoroughly enjoyed at St Hugh’s in Session 3, as everyone boogied, performed and sung their hearts out in an effort to claim first prize. Alongside the Graduation evening, Session 3 pupils thought ORA’s Got Talent was the most enjoyable night at the College.
Session 4
Session 4 at St Hugh’s welcomed fascinating guest speakers who talked about the journalism industry and hints for a successful career. Alongside engaging personalities and intriguing topics, the tips and tricks students learnt during the talks will hopefully aid them in the future.
Whilst the engineers constructed stable bridges and the doctors created lungs from balloons, plans were underway for the exciting themed end-of-week party: Cities of the World. Complete with iconic props and recognisable landmark backdrops, the party was a huge success with St Peter’s College and Jowett Walk.
Trips to Hampton Court Palace and Woburn Abbey satisfied the historians among the group during Session 4, who were captivated by the art and architecture of the buildings. Walks around Oxford city centre were also well enjoyed by everyone at St Hugh’s, who quickly came to love the place during their stay.
Graduation for Session 4 ORA students at St Hugh’s was an elaborate affair, complete with applause, laughter and loud music. The Narnia-themed party was a great opportunity for all of the students to have one final night together before heading home.
And Now…
With St Hugh’s packed up for the Summer, it’s time to thank all the staff for their hard work over the last few Sessions – we couldn’t do it without you! We also wish all ORA students the best for their future and hope that many will choose to return to us next year to make more lifelong friends and memories at St Hugh’s College.
