ORA students at Jowett Walk had a day of egg and spoon races and 3-legged competitions this week during their Sports Day event. Pupils gathered together in the warm English weather to compete in their houses for the title of Sports Day champions, with the afternoon full of roaring laughter and loud cheers.
Egg and Spoon Races
The egg and spoon races generated a chorus of laughter as students battled it out to reach the finish line without dropping their precious cargo en route. Eggs went flying, crowds were cheering and the competition was fierce as the races flew by and the winners celebrated their victory.
3-legged Races
The next event was the 3-legged race, where students had to get into pairs and have their legs tied together before running to the finish. Teamwork is an essential element in winning this kind of competition, and our students quickly realised that working together and at a mutual speed was the secret to success.
With strong competition from all of the students, Green House narrowly won Sports Day and became the Jowett Walk reigning champions! Everyone performed with gusto and confidence and, despite Green House taking first place, all enjoyed the activity and cheered their victors.
Tie Dye
Away from the exhilarating chaos of Sports Day, students also had a tie dye class, where they created an amazing array of colour and patterns. Using white shirts and dye, students swirled exciting shapes and colours to design unique and inspired pieces of clothing. Everyone had a wonderful time comparing their final products and were all impressed with their work.
With week 1 almost over, don’t forget to check back soon to hear about what students get up to over the weekend!
