The first few days for ORA students at St Andrews have shown an interest in architecture and a love of ice cream.

Walking Tour

Starting their activities with a guided tour of St Andrews town, pupils were quick to get to know their new home. Sports fanatics enjoyed seeing the Old Course, an historic golf course that many say is the Home of Golf due to its ancient roots. Watching people play golf was fascinating to some of our students, who had not traditionally played the game, and some even gave it a go.

Walking around the historic town gave students the chance to see Scottish shops (many of which sell fudge, an exciting discovery for those with a sweet tooth) and heritage areas, such as the Castle and Cathedral. We loved seeing our flexible students successfully create a human pyramid during the day, showing their strong bonds at so early a stage in their stay.

Ice Cream

No trip is complete without ice cream, or so we believe! Our favourite ice cream spot in St Andrews is Janettas Gelataria,, who have been making delicious gelato for over 100 years. With a few scoops from their classic range, our students were re-energised and raring to continue looking around the city.

Beach

With such stunning scenery in Scotland, a trip down to the beach was essential. After a day of lessons and exploring, our pupils ventured down to enjoy the sea. Though the day was overcast, students still enjoyed walking along the Scottish coast and inspecting the shoreline for shells and treasure.

ORA pupils at St Andrews have had a great time in their first few days, getting to know the city and each other. With ghost tours, scavenger hunts and film nights coming up later this week, stay tuned to hear about their adventures over the coming days.
