With over 60 students joining St Mary’s School Ascot on Arrivals Day on Sunday, lots of laughter and excitement was heard around the campus. Many of the 50 students who stayed on for another week welcomed the newcomers with open arms and jovial games in the playground and sports hall.
Sport
With a thrilling season of sport in July, students settled down to watch both the tense World Cup Final between France and Croatia and the Wimbledon Tennis match between Novak Djokovic and Kevin Anderson. The cheers from French students at the World Cup victory echoed around the room, whilst tennis fanatics praised Djokovic’s impressive game.
Cream Tea
New friends celebrated the victories with a quintessentially-British cream tea later in the afternoon, featuring tea, scones, cream and jam. The traditional pastime was enjoyed by all and featured thrilling discussions of the exciting sports matches witnessed earlier in the day.
With the sun shining and cream tea enjoyed, the students had a chance to relax with their new friends and were given an idea of the exciting classes and activities planned in the coming week. One of the highlights is the upcoming trip to KidZania, an indoor interactive city run by children. Students will be given the opportunity to choose from real-life activities and professions to explore different avenues of life and give themselves the chance to learn about the real world.
With so much excitement coming up in the next week, keep an eye on the blog page to hear all about the Ascot students’ adventures.
