Yesterday marked the first day of lessons and extra curricular programmes for students across all of our campuses, and it was certainly a day to remember!
Following an exciting arrival day on Sunday, students awoke to more sunshine and a day full of lessons and social activities.
Students were in good spirits as they had their first lesson, meeting their respective teachers who will provide world-class teaching in their specialist field over the next two weeks. The teachers were equally as delighted to meet their students! With lessons in all subjects including English, Business and Enterprise, Introduction to Medicine, Engineering and Computer Science, students are guaranteed to reach their full academic potential and to learn more than they thought possible.
A particular highlight was hearing engaging talks from some guest speakers. James Aidoo, who delivered a superb presentation about motivational and emotional maturity, and Mike Bull who is a specialist in ecology with a passion for protecting endangered species and adventurous travel were among the guest speakers we welcomed across campuses. They certainly stimulated students’ minds!
After an intellectually rigorous day of lessons, students had a guided tour of their city by the campus counsellors. The weather certainly helped to make the tour more enjoyable, and students at St Andrew’s were even treated to an ice cream from the best ice cream shop ‘Jannettas’ to round off their tour.
There are already signs of long-lasting friendships forming among the students, who have travelled from all over the world to experience a summer like no other. By living, studying, and dining like students, not only will they learn more about their chosen subject, but they will also have a lot of fun socially. Students can expect more activities like sports and punting this week, as well as parties and excursions to popular sites. Stay tuned for more updates from the rest of week 1 session 3!
