The week is already flying by for Session 2 students at Yarnton Manor, with intense classes, memorable enrichment activities, and of course, the world cup!
With the rare British sun shining all week, we have seen students out and about around the manor chatting together enjoying the beautiful grounds, playing games on the lawn, and even preparing for University Interviews.
As part of the wider learning we offer students, we held a seminar about University Application and Life for the students at Yarnton this week, talking to them about what life at university is like, as well as giving them pointers on how to tackle the dreaded entry interviews.
At the end of the session, students had gained insight into how going to University is beneficial to them, what constitutes a strong application, and improved their interview technique. This was helped primarily by the interactive session on the lawn after the seminar itself.
Students paired up and took it in turns to be the interviewer and the student being interviewed, rotating so that they could get to talk to as many of their peers as possible. It was great to see the students build their confidence in answering tricky questions, while finding out more about each other. The seminar really got students thinking about their academic careers post-summer school, and what to look forward to.
Stay tuned for our next blog post where we’ll be updating you on the other fun activities and cultural enrichment programmes the students have been doing to complement their academic programme during week 1 of session 2 at Yarnton!
